Child Allowance

Child Allowance

This allowance is paid to individuals who are caring for children and is paid until March 31 after the child's 13th birthday (before they complete elementary school). Income restrictions apply.
Description
Children under 3 years of age: 10,000 yen/month
Children 3 years of age or older:
First and second children-5,000 yen/month
Third and subsequent children-10,000 yen/month

Childcare Allowance (Care Allowance)

This allowance is provided to individuals raising children (until the last day of the fiscal year in which the child turns 18) in single-parent families (including cases in which the father or mother has a serious disability). Income restrictions apply.
Description: 13,500 yen/month per child

Childcare Allowance (Disability Allowance)

This allowance is provided to individuals raising handicapped children until they turn 20. Income restrictions apply.
Description: 15,500 yen/month per child

Special Childrearing Allowance from Tokyo Metropolitan Government

This allowance is provided to individuals caring for handicapped children until they turn 20. The allowances are 50,750 yen for first-degree cases and 33,800 yen for second- degree cases, depending on the severity of the disability. Monthly income restrictions apply.
There is also a Handicapped Child Welfare Allowance for handicapped individuals under the age of 20 and a Childrearing Allowance for individuals raising children as single mothers.
