Recyclable Materials
Place plastic containers/wrapping in the designated pink collection bags, tie the bags shut and take them to the designated collection area at the site.
Bottles, cans, PET bottles, used paper, used cloth, metal items and used cooking oil are collected as recyclable materials. Do not discard them in your garbage.
To prepare bottles, cans and PET bottles, remove all labels and caps, rinse them out and place them in a recyclable material collection box.
Tie used paper and cloth into bundles. Used cloth cannot be recycled if it gets wet, so do not put it out on rainy days.
Place metal items as is in the basket for recyclable materials even if there are non-metal parts, such as the handle of a frying pan. Please note that for large-sized garbage you should request to have it collected as large-sized garbage even if it is made of metal.
Be sure to place used cooking oil in a container with a lid that is tightly sealed so that it will not spill before disposing of it in the basket for recyclable materials. Please note that machine oil, kerosene and salad dressing are not collected. In addition, used cooking oil that has been solidified should be disposed of as burnable garbage.
Toxic Garbage/Hazardous Waste
Dry-cell batteries: Return batteries to collection bins at retail stores or put them out in clear plastic bags for collection with non-burnable garbage.
Thermometers: Put them out in clear plastic bags for collection with non-burnable garbage.
Fluorescent light bulbs: Because these are easily breakable, they should be placed in paper tubes.
For the items above, use separate bags from other non-burnable garbage and dispose of them in designated areas at the site.
Spray cans, gas canisters: Before placing these in the trash, completely use up the contents. Then poke a hole in them in an outdoor area with good ventilation and place them in transparent or semi-transparent bags before disposing of them beside the basket for recyclable materials on the designated collection day for bottles, cans and plastic PET bottles.
Items that cannot be collected by the city:
The city cannot collect fire extinguishers, batteries, tatami mats, concrete, home altars, tires, pianos, safes, sofas and beds containing springs, or motorbikes (50 cc and less will be collected as large-sized garbage).
