Introduction to Nishitokyo City

A New City

Nishitokyo is a new city that was formed at the beginning of the 21st century. In the seven years since the city was launched through the unification of Tanashi City and Hoya City, Nishitokyo has been working on urban development measures. It has enacted a citizen participation ordinance and promoted active citizen participation in the city administration, it has launched Internet-based information services, such as online facility reservations and library search services, and has promoted the use of information technology in everyday life.

Location

Nishitokyo is located virtually at the center of the Musashino Plateau, in the northwestern part of Tokyo.

Area: 15.85 sq km (4.8 km east to west, 5.6 km north to south)
Elevation: 67 meters
