Postal Services

Major Types of International Postal Services

There are three types of international postal services: air mail, surface mail, and SAL. Each offers different rates and delivery times based on weight and destination.
In addition to these, there is a convenient international express mail service (EMS) for urgent business documents and packages, and international electronic mail (Intelpost) for sending same-day messages to major cities.

Notice of Attempted Delivery

If you are absent when a mail item requiring a signature or seal, such as a parcel or registered mail item, is delivered, the postal carrier will leave a notice of attempted delivery. To pick up the item, take the notice, along with some form of identification such as your Foreign Resident Registration Certificate or your passport, to the post office. You may also request that the item be redelivered.

Moving Notice

If you move and notify the post office of your old address, your mail can be held for you or forwarded to your new address for a certain period of time.
